Heavy Equipment Operator - Faro Mine Complex - Fly In / Out - 14/14 Rotations
Parsons is seeking Heavy Equipment Operators to join its team at the Faro Mine Complex in Yukon. This fixed-term contract role, with the potential for extension or conversion to long-term, involves a fly-in/fly-out rotation of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off for non-local candidates, with preference given to local hires. The Heavy Equipment Operator will work on operating heavy and light equipment for roadway maintenance, stockpile management, berm construction, and snow clearing, as well as assisting with water treatment operations. Camp accommodations and flights are provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates with mining or construction equipment experience in remote environments.

Responsibilities
The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely operate a range of heavy and light equipment to support site maintenance and project operations at the Faro Mine Complex.
- Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers, bobcats, loaders, rock trucks, and backhoes.
- Assist with operation of excavators and bulldozers under supervision.
- Perform vehicle haulage safely and efficiently.
- Conduct rigging, lifting, and hoisting operations to move heavy loads.
- Drive and operate vacuum and water trucks (3 to 10 tons).
- Work with the Water Treatment group to place pumps, pipelines, and water conveyance equipment.
- Follow FMC safety procedures and policies.
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections, maintain equipment logs, and refuel/maintain equipment.
- Keep equipment tidy and prepare required daily reports.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Maintenance Superintendent.
Requirements
Candidates must have proven operational experience and the ability to work in remote mining environments under various weather conditions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience operating CAT and other heavy equipment in mining or construction.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Rigging, lifting, and hoisting certificate.
- Proficiency in forklifts, skid steers, bobcats, loaders, rock trucks, and backhoes.
- Willingness to train on excavators and bulldozers.
- Ability to follow and give directions effectively.
- Physically fit to meet role demands (lift up to 20kg, work in varied weather).
- Willingness to work various shifts.
- Assets: Class 1 or 3 license with air brake endorsement; Mine Rescue Certificate (surface) per Yukon OHS standards.
